The West Village Veterinary Hospital (WVVH) opened in 1979 offering veterinary care, animal surgery, cat and dog vaccines, general pet health, and dental care to pet owners in the West Village, Greenwich Village, and Chelsea neighborhoods. After nearly 30 extraordinary years at our original NYC location on Washington Street, we moved the animal hospital to a much larger facility in the summer of 2008. Our new location on Eighth Avenue allows us to serve the neighborhood’s pet health needs in a totally modern facility where you will continue to find a warm, friendly, neighborhood welcome.
Our expanded offices on Eighth Avenue allow the West Village Veterinary Hospital to offer the following in a one location:
- Pet health services 7 days a week
- Internship-trained veterinarians
- Board-certified specialists in internal medicine and cardiology
- Cat and dog surgery
- Dental and oral care suite
- 24-hour routine and critical overnight nursing care
- Intensive care unit for dogs, cats, and other family pets

The West Village Veterinary Hospital offers convenient pet health expertise and the compassionate care that is a hallmark of our philosophy. The WVVH accepts referrals from other New York City vets for pets requiring highly advanced services and care.
